Downtown Northville is receiving statewide recognition for its ongoing redevelopment, marking an important milestone for the community and its residents.
Michigan Main Street recently announced that Downtown Northville has reached an "Engaged-level" designation. This recognition highlights the city’s progress as it prepares to see the results of the approximately $350-Million Dollar redevelopment of the former Northville Downs site. The program supports communities that are investing in their downtowns while preserving historic character and long term vitality.

One of the most notable aspects of the redevelopment is how closely it connects new development with Historic Downtown. City officials have shared that it is only a short walk from the new common areas at the former Downs site into downtown Northville, helping strengthen walkability and community connection.
Residents will also see new green space added to the area, including a river park expected to open in the coming months. The park will connect to the Hines Park system and regional trails, making it easier for people to walk or bike into downtown while enjoying outdoor space.

While construction and improvements may bring short term inconvenience, city leaders emphasize that the long term benefits are significant. Once complete, the redevelopment is expected to welcome hundreds of new residents while enhancing the overall downtown experience.
For Northville residents, this recognition signals thoughtful growth. Continued investment in walkability, green space, and downtown amenities helps strengthen the community and supports long term livability and rising value.

Downtown Northville’s Michigan Main Street recognition confirms that the city’s redevelopment efforts are active, supported, and moving forward with the future in mind.
